Can the Account be set up on a
network so that my child can access his/her Account
on their own computer?
Yes. We want to make it easy for your child to
have access to their Account. After all, the
easier it is for them to make deposits, the more
they'll make! At least, that's the goal.
Accessing their Account from another computer is
simple. First, you need to be have a home
network set up. Follow the steps below to set
up KidsSave which will allow access to a common
KidsSave data file from multiple computers.
-
Install KidsSave on each
computer on the network.
-
Set up a shared folder on one of
the computers that is fully accessible from the
other computers on the network.
-
On that same computer, launch
KidsSave and go to the Banker Options in the
Banker section.
-
In the Banker Options dialog,
change the location of the KidsSave data file to
the shared folder you set up. A message
will appear informing you that the current
KidsSave data file will be copied to the shared
folder. Click OK to copy the KidsSave file
to this shared folder.
-
Exit KidsSave.
-
Go to each one of the network
computers and perform the following:
-
Launch KidsSave.
-
Go to the Banker Options and
change the location to the shared folder you
set up.
-
Exit KidsSave without
saving.
-
Launch KidsSave again to
begin using the shared file.
Important things to note:
Keep in mind that when you update
the KidsSave program on one computer, you will need
to update all of the networked computers.
Also, to minimize potential access problems, we
recommend that you only have KidsSave running on one
computer at a time. In addition, the computer
set up to share the KidsSave file will have to be
running whenever KidsSave is accessed by a network
computer.
